Mervin Budram – MD aka ‘MD’ is an award-winning Christian paranda fusion, soca, and worship artist from Belize. His style can be described as authentic, passionate, culturally infused spiritual melodies with a contemporary cross-over appeal. MD brings a Caribbean praise & worship experience with a prophetic spontaneous edge, that moves listeners to freedom & wholeness.
As a Belizean singer/ songwriter and Multi-Award-winning recording artist with twenty-nine (29)+ years of experience in writing, singing, performing/ entertaining original and cover songs on locally & internationally stages; MD is uniquely positioned to engage, inspire, motivate, and provide a transformative experience for a diverse audience.
MD’s versatility and prowess as an artist has so far led to crossover tours in Colorado, New Mexico, California, Jamaica, Barbados, Mexico, and Belize; as well as garnered him 2009’s award for Best Belize Carnival Song titled ‘Jump for Belize‘ and Best Music Video 2016 by Antigua Barbuda Gospel Music Awards for his ‘Giant Slayer‘ music video. Mervin’s latest single ”Love That Feeling” was featured on the Church City USA ’Tropical City’ compilation album; which ranked 6 on the Christian categories on Apple music.
MD has shared the stage with some of the Caribbean & International gospel icons such as Sherwin Gardner, DJ Nicholas, Jason Mighty, Prodigal Son, Christafari, Monty G, Positive, Emrand Henry, J Prince, Jade, Joshua Ali, TFK, KJ52, Toby Mac & Diversity Band to name a few.
MD aims to bring a class of music as an art that people not only appreciate but can relate to, learn from, and more importantly grow from.
In 2009, Mervin Budram’s song ‘Jump for Belize’ won the Belize Carnival song competition and was and continues to be featured on local radio stations throughout Belize.
In 2012 Mervin founded Roots & Honor Records where he produced, branded, and developed several Belizean artists.
In 2015, Mervin Budram – MD released his popular single ‘Giant Slayer’ which got him featured on the cover of the KingdomExec. Magazine out of Dallas, Texas.
He later released a music video for that song which won the Best Music Video of the Year award in the 2016 edition of
the Antigua & Barbuda Gospel Music Award (ABGMA).
In 2019 MD was nominated for the ABGMA as well at the Gospel Choice Awards.
MD released several popular songs and performed internationally in the Caribbean, USA, Canada, Mexico & Taiwan.
In 2022, Mervin’s song ‘Send Me I’II Go’ was number one on the gospel Soca calypso charts for three weeks on GL360 Radio out of the USA and the Caribbean region.
In the same year, he was contracted by the Government of Belize’s Trade and Investment branch (BELTRAIDE) to utilize his 30+ years of experience in my music business to brand and market five female artists namely Melonie Gillett, Jackie Castillo, Chanell Parks, Miss Honey Dee, and Denise Castillo for the Covid Relief for Women in Emerging Industry.
