Launch of Marie Sharp’s new pineapple habanero sauce called Pure Love

On February 14, 2019, the U.S. Embassy hosted the launch of Marie Sharp’s brand new “Pure Love” pineapple habanero pepper sauce that aspires to combat gendered based violence against women and children. The proceeds of the sale of “Pure Love” will go to Haven House–a non-profit domestic violence shelter–directly benefiting women and children and empowering them to take control and positively transform their lives.

The event, themed “Combating Gender-Based Violence through Partnership,” featured remarks by the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Keith Gilges, Governor-General of Belize, His Excellency Sir Colville Young, Special Envoy for Women and Children Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow, Mrs. Marie Sharp, and President of the Board of Directors of Haven House Dr. Sharmayne Saunders.

Mervin Budram (MD) & Alida Sharp were invited to amplify the anti-violence message through their original musical compositions. MD sang “Save The Children,” an original piece that specifically addresses the issue of violence against children.

Mervin was honored to be a part of the program with The Governor-General of Belize Sir Colville Young, Belize’s First Lady Kim Simplis Barrow the Special Envoy Belize, Chargé d’affaires Keith Gilges of the US Embassy, and Mrs. Marie Sharp
